In 2014 my husband and I took a sabbatical for 3 months sailing on our boat in the Caribbean. It was the trip of a life time. He sailed and I painted to our hearts content. On the island of Saint Martin I found these beautiful cannas swaying in the tropical breezes with a brilliant red backdrop. My still life was already arranged and I knew I had to paint it.
