I was visiting the Eastern Shore of Virginia for a plein air event. On this particular morning while walking along the water looking for inspiration I saw this rookery of egrets. I quickly and quietly set up my easel praying they wouldn't take off. They were very accommodating and seemed to know they were having their portraits painted. I was able to complete most of this and then all of a sudden they were gone. It is moments like these I am so thankful for being an artist.
